About

Pete Ockleshaw is a zoologist and naturalist with 15 years service to the Melbourne Zoo as a Zoo Encounters Presenter. He has a great interest in conservation and helping everyday people find smalls ways to help the environment.

With extensive travel throughout the world focussing on endangered species and their environment Pete has first hand experience and continues to travel to broaden his knowledge.
Through his website www.peteockleshaw.com.au and through his personal encounters and appearances, Pete is determined to change people’s mindsets from of overwhelmed helplessness to empowered to do small easy things which ultimately helps the big things.

After developing a love of wildlife at a young age, Pete became passionately curious about the natural world. He set about on a lifelong mission to educate others and share his passion for wildlife conservation. By empowering others to understand how they can help protect the environment and by teaching people how contribute to preservation by implementing meaningful and easy to maintain personal behaviours, Pete has helped shape a generation of new thinking and has successfully shifted attitudes towards the environment.

Away from work, Pete likes to spend time with his wife, son and extended family at their farm. As a lover of the great outdoors, Pete enjoys exploring mountain ranges either on foot or by motorbike. With a passion for reading and film, Pete relaxes by reading wildlife books or watching wildlife documentaries. He also enjoys playing sports, including tennis, surfing, golf and footy or sharing a beer with mates while watching footy. He’s also travelled the world with his wife, visiting all seven continents.
